Queen's Jubilee tree planting

Planting Trees for The Queen’s Jubilee was an Australian Government program. The program commemorated the Platinum Jubilee of Her Majesty The Queen.

 

It funded tree planting and commemorative events by the community across Australia. These recognised her service to the United Kingdom, the Realms, Australia, and the broader Commonwealth over 70 years.

 

The program supported planting of appropriate tree species at each proposed project site. These may enhance the local tree canopy and leave a legacy across Australia for us to enjoy now and in the future.

 

Each federal electorate received up to $100,000 in grants for up to 10 projects. Grants ranged from $2,500 to $20,000 per project.

 

Local federal members of Parliament nominated projects, in consultation with their local communities. Applications closed on 16 May 2022. Funded projects met the objectives, expected outcomes, and eligibility requirements of the program.

 

The Rotary Club of Dapto received one of the grants and we planted 42 trees in Diamond Brothers Park over many moths. They are growing beautifully.

 

We were helped by students form Dapto and Kanahooka High School, Dapto Primary School and Wollongong Council.
