Rotary peace poles

Rotary Peace Poles are planted bearing the Universal Peace Message “May Peace Prevail on Earth”. The pole and the message symbolise our common wish for a World at Peace. They stand as a silent vigil for peace, reminding us to think and act in the spirit of peace.Each Peace Pole contains the wording “May peace prevail on earth” in English and other languages as selected by the schools.
 
How they originated:
  • The Rotary Peace Pole program began in 1955
  • The Rotary Club of Canberra Burley Griffin installed the first peace poles in Australia as part of its Rotary Centenary project (2020).
How they are used:
  • Rotary clubs use the poles to promote multicultural understanding and conflict resolution
  • Schools use the poles to help students express empathy and demonstrate respect for others
  • Schools use the poles to help with mental health and well being.

  • Koonawarra Public School – 2 poles
  • Hayes Park Public School
  • St John’s Catholic Primary School
  • Don’s Farm Avondale – 2 poles
